What Alcohol Can You Drink With Candida?

When it comes to Candida one of the golden rules is not drinking alcohol, it’s usually one of the first things people advise you not to do. However under circumstances where you feel you have Candida more under control and want to test the boundaries of your condition then certain alcohols are better than others.

Why Alcohol is a NO NO with Candida?

To address the issues of Candida and alcohol, I first wanted to say why alcohol is best avoided, this is because alcohol is fermented, usually full of sugars and yeasts. Each one a negative impact on the body when under the conditions of Candida. In fact under extreme Candida, alcohol can put one in hospital it is that bad on it.

Tip – Be very cautious when trying your first drink after a bout of Candida..

What Alcohols?

So anyways, enough said on that one, if one wants to drink alcohol and feels up to it, I would recommend going with these options, go with the white clear spirits such as Vodka or Gin. These are best as they have virtually no sugar and are stronger in alcohol which means less drinking. You can then mix with a healthy candida safe mixer such as fresh vegetable juice or fruit juices that you are okay with. If not okay with any then just go with a mixer of tonic water or bubbly spring water. These will work and taste okay.

If your feeling really game, quality red wine can be okay because of its high Riboflavin content and because it is a natural laxative as well, however I would be very careful with quality and how much you drink. Drink one glass, wait an hour and see how you feel. If you feel a reaction then drink no more.. Same goes with the vodka, always best if a reaction occurs to stop after that.. You don’t want to make the Candida worse..

  1. Tonic is a very bad idea in this case.
1)Tonic water, though bitter tasting is quite high in sugar and carbs. About 100 carbs per liter!
2)Diet tonic water is loaded with saccharin.
Go with unsweetened soda water/seltzer and a lemon.

  2. 1 drop of oregano oil
    2 drops of peppermint oil
    1 shot of gin.
Tastes like medicine should, warms the tummy, cleans the gut and taste perfectly good without a chaser.
